You had me at "common sense in contracts"! Giving authors a say in what happens with their own books shouldn't sound so revolutionary. The publishing industry is ripe for disruption, good on you for leading the charge.

Welcome to the Stack! The vibe is great so far and hopefully will continue to be. I am an artist, poet and spiritual philosopher who is a student for life. My current day job is teaching Art at a Middle School. I wish to be part of the solution.

It’s so exciting to see this head-on response to the changed media landscape, and I look forward to watching it play out.

That's a great 'opening article', Madeline, thank you. And good luck to Team Authors Equity!

Very excited to see how Authors Equity impacts the traditional publishing landscape. I've recently started publishing and even translating my own books (in addition to marketing of course). It's great to have this level of freedom.

My hope is to see more small publishing houses absorb and support existing author platforms to share in a fair upside for the author and publisher. This is the model I'm looking to implement with my own company a few years down the line.

It's great to see a publishing industry disrupter! Your new company can only succeed in this environment. All the best!

Say what? Professionals in the book publishing industry and all team dawg? I've found a small herd of unicorns, and I'm there for them! And for their outlook and approach. Every good wish!

So I'm going to have to subscribe to your page (hopefully you'll be curious enough to look and see what I have to offer), because I write novellas and it seems I have always written myself out of the market. Nobody looks at novellas these days. But that's okay, because I've never done what everyone else does, anyway. I write for me, first. If I don't like the story, how do I expect the reader to like it? So yeah, I want to see where you're going to take this, just like I hope you're going to want to see where I take mine. I feel that Substack is the opportunity I've been waiting for all my life, and since I'm in the sunset of my years and maybe have twenty years left, twenty-five if I'm lucky, maybe we can grow together?
